Portuguese as a Foreign Language - Summer Course
The University of the Algarve is home to Faculties and Schools offering specialised courses in the sciences and in humanities. It is divided into two campuses, the Penha Campus in Faro and the Gambelas Campus, next to Ria Formosa and close to the International Faro Airport.
The summer course will take place in the Gambelas Campus, where the Faculties of Science and Technology, Marine and Environmental Sciences, Economics, Natural Resources Engineering and the Human and Social Sciences are located. Other resources available on campus are: the University Library, restaurant, snack-bars, open-air sporting facilities and several auditoriums. There is a regular bus service which connects the campus to the beach (2 km) and to Faro city (5 km).

A1: For absolute beginners
A2: For students with previous basic knowledge of the Portuguese language
B1 (Conditioned to the minimum number of 8 participants): For students who can understand the main points of clear standard input on everyday conversations
Levels may vary according to the number of applicants.
A detailed programme will be made known at the beginning of classes. Most school outings are free of charge. However, an additional payment may be required.
Tuition and Fees 2020/2021
- 415 Euros (enrolment+tuition fee+insurance) or
- 25 Euros (enrolment) to be paid upon enrolment + 390 Euros (tuition fee+insurance)
