The CEAACP is the Centre for Studies in Archaeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences - FCT R&D Research Unit No. 281. It is an interinstitutional unit that associates the University of Coimbra, the Archaeological Field of Mértola and the University of the Algarve.

Founded in 1993 as an Archaeology unit, it currently conducts multidisciplinary research organised in three research groups: Archeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences.

It promotes shared research in the field of Social and Human Sciences, with a special focus on the disciplinary areas of Archeology, Arts, Archaeogeography, Vernacular Architecture, Heritage and New Technologies linked to Heritage.

The current strategic plan favours the study of landscapes and cultural contacts.
