Science communication in the spotlight at UAlg in an international SEA-EU session
This session is part of the international meetings that will bring together, at UAlg over two days, communication specialists from the nine SEA-EU partner universities, with the aim of sharing best practices, projects and strategies in the fields of institutional communication and science communication.
The programme will begin with a welcome session, featuring the Pro-Rector for Sustainability Sciences, Vânia Sousa, and the meeting host, Professor Manuel Célio Conceição. This will be followed by an overview of the work carried out within WP6, presented by Irene de Andrés Márquez, Head of Communications at SEA-EU, and Manuel Célio Conceição.
One of the highlights of the morning will be the conference “Science Is for Everyone — But Only If We Make It So!”, delivered by Professor Cristina Veiga-Pires (University of Algarve/Algarve Ciência Viva Science Centre), inviting reflection on the role of science in society and the importance of making knowledge accessible to all.
The session will also feature presentations of several science communication projects developed within the Alliance, namely: “SEA-EU Falling Walls”, by Umair Najeeb Mughal (Nord University, Norway), “SYREN Project”, by Ana Matias (University of Algarve), and “Science Comes to Town”, by Tonka Petričević (University of Split, Croatia).
The morning will conclude with a Q&A session, encouraging dialogue between participants and the audience.
Participation is open to the entire academic community, offering a unique opportunity to engage with international initiatives and reflect on current challenges in science communication.
This session takes place in the context of the in-person meetings of WP6 tasks (Tasks 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3) of the SEA-EU Alliance, whose programme will continue on 14 and 15 April with internal working sessions among delegations from partner universities, including review and planning meetings, as well as social and cultural activities organised by the University of Algarve.
