According to the 2026 edition of this ranking, the University of Algarve (UAlg) holds at the top 2000 best universities in the world. Numbering a total 21.291 higher education institutions evaluated, with UAlg appearing in 1429th place, with an overall score of 68.4. In terms of research, the UAlg ranked 1375th. Nationally, the Algarve Academy holds the 7th position among the thirteen higher education institutions ranked.

Since 2012, CWUR has published this academic ranking of universities, using objective indicators to assess universities in four fundamental pillars (quality of education, alumni employability, faculty quality and research performance), without relying on surveys and university data submissions.
